Earlier this month, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp took to X to share that the Rams intend to trade him. After hearing that news, teams around the NFL had their ears perked up, hoping for a phone call. On Monday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on the matter.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Monday’s SportsCenter that the Los Angeles Rams would “prefer to get some sort of compensation for him. They’re going to save at least $7 million on their cap by doing so. Talking to people around the league, he will have a market because he’s so quarterback friendly. The Patriots could look into this, certainly Washington is looking for a complimentary No. 2 receiver, and the Steelers as well.”
If the Rams can’t trade Kupp, they’ll likely cut him to save nearly $30 million in cap space in 2025 and an additional $27 million in 2026. The Rams plan to move on from Kupp regardless of how it happens, but of course, they’d rather get something in return.
It’s uncertain if the Commanders have called the Rams to inquire about a potential trade. Can you imagine Kupp lining up alongside Terry McLaurin? They would make a pretty incredible duo and provide Jayden Daniels with everything he needs to move the ball down the field. Even if they haven’t made that call, you can be sure they’re talking about it.
