The Washington Commanders have several things to address during the offseason. Whether it’s through the draft, free agency, or trades, they need to improve the run defense, add to the secondary, and add weapons for Jayden Daniels on offense.
Right now, the 2025 NFL draft is at the forefront of everyone’s minds and mock drafts are in abundance. Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt released his very first mock draft on Thursday, and he predicts the Commanders will select safety Nick Emmanwori out of South Carolina.
The Commanders need to address the defense, as we all saw in the NFC Championship Game. I think they should make a play for Myles Garrett. If they’re able to land Garret without giving up this pick, I like Emmanwori here for Washington. I think he’s the best run-stopping safety in the draft.
Throughout his career at South Carolina, Emmanwori recorded 88 total tackles, four interceptions, and scored two touchdowns. The Commanders have several members of its secondary who will become free agents in March, so what they do with those players will give us insight into what their intentions are with the draft.
The Commanders have the 29th overall pick in this year’s draft, and there’s no real consensus as to what the team will do with it.
