The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles made NFL history in 2024. The two NFC foes met in Week 1 in Brazil, the first NFL game ever played in Brazil.
In November, the NFL announced it would return to Brazil in 2025. The Los Angeles Chargers are in line to be the host team for the NFL’s second game in Brazil next fall. The Washington Commanders are one of the visitors on the Chargers’ 2025 schedule.
Could Jayden Daniels and the Commanders open the 2025 season against the Chargers in Brazil?
A post on X circulated Tuesday, ramping up speculation about the Chargers potentially hosting a game in Brazil in Week 1.

That led some to speculate that Washington could be the opponent. It’s unlikely Los Angeles would host a divisional foe in Brazil, so the Commanders, with a marketable young quarterback like Daniels, could be the opponent.
Washington could also play in the NFL’s first game in Spain next season. The Dolphins were announced as the home team in Spain’s first NFL game, and the Commanders are a visitor on Miami’s 2025 schedule.
Clearly, the Commanders will not be in both international games. Still, the odds are increasing that they’ll play their first international game since 2016 against the Cincinnati Bengals at Wembley Stadium in London.
