Dan Quinn speaks to the media before practice
The Washington Commanders are practicing in front of the fans for another day of training camp, and today will be the first one in pads. Dan Quinn spoke to the media before the start of practice against, and gave some injury updates. Andrew Wylie was held out of practice due to tightness, but he will return to the field today. Johnny Newton is recovering from his second foot surgery this year, but Quinn said he has no restrictions, and he’s in great shape. The team will ramp his activities, which means he won’t be participating in team drills for now.

Punt/kick returns:
Quinn says he’s more comfortable with the punt return situation than kick returns now. The fret sounds more about the process than the personnel. Obviously, the changes with kickoffs were rather dramatic.

Johnny Newton:
Dan Quinn said they’ll start using Johnny Newton in some team drills soon (not today, but soon). No limitations for him, but they want to ramp him up after recovering from a second foot surgery.
