Dan Quinn talks to the media before the start of practice
Dan Quinn spoke to the media again today. The Washington Commanders have opened up training camp to the fans today, and Quinn noticed the energy and the crowd lining up early. He spoke about Washington being a historic franchise in the NFL, and watching old NFC East games with John Madden and Pat Summerall on commentary.
Mike Sainristil is a versatile player, and they are still working on all the ways they can use him in their defense. He will also be able to contribute on special teams with his quicks/ball skills. Quinn was asked about using starters as kick/punt returners, and he said there is value there, especially if they’re capable of making big plays.
The new kickoff rules will lead to more changes to the way teams use their personnel on special teams. Jordan Magee is another player who will be used on both defense and special teams. Quinn said the rookie has impressed with his speed and athleticism and he’s off to an excellent start.
