At the NFL’s annual league meeting this week, Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie shut down the idea that Jalen Hurts won’t be the team’s starting quarterback this fall.
“We have a young, 23-year-old, playoff QB who gets better every year in college and in the pros,” Lurie said, via Zach Berman of The Athletic. “He’s had, really, one full year. No one knows where that’s going to end up, but I think what you do know is you have a guy that is incredibly dedicated, excellent leader of men.
“Players around him gravitate to him. He will do anything and everything to get better and work on every weakness he has to try to maximize every strength he has. And that’s why we’re committed to Jalen at age 23. Who knows what the future holds, right?”
Judging by some fans’ reactions, the city of Philadelphia has fully embraced Hurts.
“Let him develop,” one fan said in response to Lurie’s comments.

Hurts finished the 2021 season with 3,144 passing yards, 16 touchdown passes and nine interceptions. He also had 784 yards and 10 scores on the ground.
Will Jalen Hurts take that next step this fall? The Eagles’ front office certainly hopes so.
