Believe it or not, the Minnesota Vikings were willing to make a trade with the Green Bay Packers during the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Vikings traded the 34th pick to the Packers for the 53rd and 59th picks in the second round. The Packers then used the 34th pick on North Dakota State wide receiver Christian Watson.
Watson was considered a fringe Day 1 prospect. Now, he’ll have the chance to help out a Packers’ receiving corps that lost Davante Adams earlier this offseason.
Even though the Vikings received a pair of second-round picks in this trade, it’s a bit surprising they allowed the Packers to move that far up the board.
“The Packers have been looking to move up for a WR all draft. I’m floored that the Vikings were the team to accommodate that, especially since they want to win the division this year,” Chad Graff of The Athletic tweeted. “The Vikings helped their bitter rival get the position they’ve been lacking.”

Graff isn’t the only one confused by this trade. Countless fans are questioning the Vikings’ strategy on Day 2 of the draft.

Only time will tell if the Vikings made a mistake allowing the Packers to draft Watson.
That being said, it’s usually not a wise idea to give Aaron Rodgers a potential-packed weapon at wide receiver.
