On Thursday night, the first round of the 2022 NFL draft came and went without the Green Bay Packers drafting a wide receiver.
The team watched six wide receivers go off the board before they came on the clock at No. 22. Instead of reaching for a wide receiver, the team stood pat and drafted Georgia linebacker Quay Walker.
Just a few picks later the team drafted Walker’s Georgia teammate, Devonte Wyatt. That left Packers fans feeling some type of way after watching the team leave the first round without another wide receiver.
Well, on Friday night, general manager Brian Gutekunst wasn’t allowing another wide receiver to get past them. The Packers traded up to the second pick of the second round to select former North Dakota State wide receiver Christian Watson.
“A WR for Aaron Rodgers. The wait is over. Christian Watson,” NFL insider Jason La Canfora said.

“There goes North Dakota State’s Christian Watson to the Packers. He’s 6-foot-4 and boasts 4.36 speed. Aaron Rodgers gets his dynamic target, and it comes five spots before the Bears’ No. 39 selection,” said another analyst.

ESPN’s Marcus Spears got in on the action too.
“There ya go GB,” he said.
