On Thursday night, the Detroit Lions traded up 20 spots to take Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams with the No. 12 pick in the draft.
Heading into this year’s draft process, there was some concern that Williams wouldn’t be ready for the start of the 2022 NFL season. But on Friday, the former Crimson Tide superstar revealed some encouraging news for the Lions organization.
Williams says he should be ready to go for this year’s training camp, per Lions insider Chris Burke of The Athletic.

Williams suffered a torn ACL injury during the second quarter of this year’s College Football Playoff National Championship loss to the Georgia Bulldogs. The 21-year-old wide receiver underwent successful surgery on the injury just a few days later in mid-January.
As the lead receiver in a talented WR room for the Crimson Tide, Williams reeled in 79 receptions for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2021.
Joining a fairly-thin wide receiver depth chart in Detroit, Williams should have an immediate impact as a WR1 for the Lions this coming season.
