Congratulations Jayden!
Jayden Daniels has won his first FedEx Air Player of the Week for his performance against the Arizona Cardinals. Daniels is the first rookie to win this award this year, and has clearly been the best quarterback from this year’s draft. He led the Washington Commanders to a 42-14 win, and continues to play at a very high level. Daniels had 26 completions on 30 attempts (86.7%) for 233 passing yards and 1 TD while adding 47 rushing yards and 1 TD on the ground. Daniels is the first Washington QB to win a FedEx Award since Kirk Cousins in Week 11 of 2016.
For winning the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Player of the Week Award, FedEx will make a $2,000 donation in Daniels’ name to a Historically Black College or University of his choice, which will be applied towards needs-based scholarships to deserving HBCU students.
While Daniels is an award newcomer, the other FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week winner is an award mainstay in Ravens RB Derrick Henry, who throttled the Bills to the tune of 209 scrimmage yards (199 rushing, 10 receiving) and two touchdowns (1 rushing, 1 receiving).
Jayden Daniels was the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft, behind only Caleb Williams who was drafted by the Chicago Bears. He has also been behind him in the Offensive Rookie of the Year odds since before the draft and into the season. That has changed with Williams looking like a rookie and Daniels blazing into the national consciousness. FanDuel currently has Daniels as the favorite, and Williams down to third.
FanDuel NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds:
- Jayden Daniels -180
- Malik Nabers +340
- Caleb Williams +600
- Marvin Harrison Jr. +700
