Jonathan Jones speaks to the media after his signing is announced
Jonathan Jones spent his entire 9-year career with the New England Patriots, and didn’t expect to go to the Washington Commanders that were dealing with the turmoil of Dan Snyder. Those days are over, with Josh Harris buying the team, and the hiring of GM Adam Peters and HC Dan Quinn last year. Jones was impressed with the turnaround and how quickly it happened. He asked friends in the league about Quinn, and got great feedback from former Patriots and Cowboys CB Stephon Gilmore who said signing with the Commanders would be one of the best decisions he could make.
Jones is a smaller DB at 5’9”, but he said he doesn’t see himself as that size and he’s a physical player on the field. He’s also versatile and can be used all over the defense which defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr will love. Jones was excited to meet Whitt Jr, and start learning his defense.
