The Washington Commanders hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. In all likelihood, Washington will be choosing between quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye.
Williams is expected to go No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears. Sure, that’s not certain at the moment, as the Bears could keep Justin Fields and deal the pick. Or, perhaps Chicago likes one of the other quarterbacks and moves down a spot giving the Commanders a chance to draft Williams — a Washington, D.C. native.
Only Bears’ GM Ryan Poles knows what’s happening at this point.
Regardless, don’t expect Washington general manager Adam Peters to be caught off guard. Peters met with the media Tuesday at the NFL combine in Indianapolis and let it be known the Commanders are looking for a quarterback.
The best part of the combine isn’t the workouts — none of the top passers are participating in the workouts. But, it’s the meetings. Sure, they are short, but teams can gain good insight into a player’s personality in a 15-minute meeting. It can help you determine which players you want to invite to your team’s headquarters for one of the top 30 visits. Each team gets 45 formal interviews at the combine.
One of the Commanders’ meetings will be with Daniels, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network.
Sources: LSU QB Jayden Daniels has formal meetings scheduled with the Giants, Vikings, Saints and Patriots this evening.
Daniels will also meet formally with the Washington Commanders on Wednesday.

This isn’t a surprise, as Washington will also meet with Williams, Maye, J.J. McCarthy and others.
