2025 NFL draft: Six-team race for No. 1 pick, top prospects
New York Giants (2-8)
- FPI chance to earn No. 1 pick: 16.9%
- FPI chance to earn top five pick: 62.7%
Where has it gone wrong? There’s a lot to choose from here. The Giants are last in the NFL with 15.4 points scored per game, they have given up the most yards per rush (5.3) and their special teams have been terrible. That covers a good chunk of all three phases. It’s hard to win that way.
Are major changes on the horizon? All signs point toward the Giants getting ready to bench quarterback Daniel Jones. That is coming sooner rather than later. As for general manager Joe Schoen and coach Brian Daboll, owner John Mara has said they’re safe and that the team is committed to them. But will that stick if the Giants finish 4-13 and/or 0-9 at home? — Jordan Raanan
What could they do with the top pick? I like the fit for Miami quarterback Cam Ward. With Jones not likely to start for the Giants next season (and perhaps not with the team at all), New York will be searching for its new franchise signal-caller. Ward is an electric playmaker who can create and make all the throws. Daboll could help him develop over time and limit his decision-making mistakes.

Daniel Jones ‘may be staying’ as New York Giants’ starting QB, per report
The Giants might not be done with him just yet
Russini said that despite being 3-13 in his last 16 starts the organization might still believe Jones is their best option.
“You’ve got Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll, despite the vote of confidence from their owner John Mara, it may appear that they’re safe, but we know how this goes. Even if the owner says that if they go out there and lose in a really bad way and it’s ugly football it’s going to be really hard to bring those guys back there.
“In the mind of a Brian Daboll and a Joe Schoen we don’t really know what Drew Lock’s about. I think Daniel Jones may still give them the best chance to win.”
Valentine’s View
I’m not buying. I think the Giants don’t really have a choice here but to move on. They are playing with financial fire if they don’t. They also open up the potential of next Sunday at MetLife Stadium when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being really ugly.

NFL Week 11 picks, schedule, odds, injuries, fantasy tips
Texans (6-4) at Cowboys (3-6)
Cowboys storyline to watch: Can the second week of Cooper Rush as the starting quarterback be better than the first? He averaged 1.96 yards per attempt last week against the Eagles, so it needs to be. The Cowboys are looking for their first win of the season at AT&T Stadium (0-4) .They have had three home losses by at least 25 points, matching the most in team history. The Cowboys have not lost five straight home games since 2015, when they finished 4-12. — Todd Archer
Bold prediction: The Cowboys will fail to cross midfield in the first half even with the sun having already set. Instead, their biggest problem will be themselves. And part of the equation here is that Houston will run all over them and own time of possession, barely giving Rush much time to work anyway. — Walder
Fantasy X factor: Mixon. Houston’s passing game could get a boost with Collins back, but the Cowboys’ defense remains vulnerable against the run. Dallas has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to running backs, and its defensive front ranks 30th in run stop win rate (27.1%). See Week 11 rankings. — Moody
Betting nugget: The Cowboys are 0-4 ATS in their past four games, their longest ATS losing streak since 2020 (eight straight). Read more.

Could Saquon Barkley make a late MVP run?
Some are starting to suggest the Eagles running back Saquon Barkley might be in the midst of an MVP run. Given recent history, however, the odds are against him.
Literally. He’s a 50-1 long shot to win it with one major sports book. It’s 60-1 at another, and 80-1 at another.
A non-quarterback last won MVP in 2012. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson made a late run at the single-season rushing record and, even though he fell short, Peterson overcame Peyton Manning in his first season with the Broncos.
Barkley currently has 1,137 rushing yards. He’s on pace for 1,933. With 210 receiving yards, his current yards-from-scrimmage production projects to 2,290. And his 10 total touchdowns through 10 games leads to (reaches for calculator) 17 touchdowns for the season.
It adds up to a special season.

Eagles Rookie Report Card: Quinyon Mitchell making case for DROY
Weekly check in on Philadelphia’s 2024 NFL Draft class.
Every week I am hoping we will get Quinyon Mitchell’s first career interception. The problem is that teams are just sort of not targeting him. Against Washington, Mitchell was targeted once and didn’t give up a single catch. This is while he spent a good part of the game trailing Terry McLaurin, who isn’t exactly a slouch. Through 10 games, Quinyon Mitchell has given up 23 catches on 41 targets (per Pro Football Focus). For context, Sauce Gardner gave up 22 catches through the first 10 games of his rookie season and he was named All-Pro. So far, so good for the Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate.

Shane Waldron was 8th coach Bears fired under Matt Eberflus
all the things Eberflus said he wanted in an OC — a great teacher, communicator and innovator — are things the Bears will continue to look for after firing Waldron on Wednesday and making Thomas Brown the interim offensive coordinator. It was the eighth coach who was let go, for a variety of reasons, under Eberflus, whose own future is now firmly in the spotlight. Eberflus has fired two offensive coordinators this calendar year, including Getsy, who subsequently was fired by the Las Vegas Raiders last week, but there’s no guarantee Eberflus will be around to pick the next one.
“Third playcaller, and I take full accountability for that,” Eberflus said Wednesday. “I take full responsibility for that, and it’s got to get better.
“The details of creativity have to improve, and it’s got to improve this week.”
Eberflus was not alone in his decision to hire Waldron or other staff members who have since been dismissed. Poles has been part of the process every step of the way. But Eberflus’ hiring failures have been paired with a 14-29 record (.326), and that’s not the type of combination that defines job security.
And things aren’t about to get easier. The Bears have the toughest remaining schedule in the league, according to ESPN Research, starting with Sunday’s home game (1 p.m. ET, Fox) against the Green Bay Packers, who are 5-point favorites. Eberflus is 2-10 vs. the NFC North.
Here’s a look at the coaches who have been fired under Eberflus.
