Three short years ago, the then-Washington Redskins spent the No. 15 overall pick on Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins. On Thursday, just before the 2022 NFL draft began, the NFL honored Haskins with a moment of silence. Haskins was tragically killed on April 9 in South Florida when he was struck by a truck.
Haskins spent almost two full seasons in Washington before being released in Dec. 2020. He appeared in 16 games, making 13 starts, and completed 267 of his 444 attempts for 2,804 yards with 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
Haskins signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Jan. 2021 and served as Pittsburgh’s third-string quarterback behind Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph. He was inactive for all but one game last season.
Haskins’ family and friends held three different memorial services last week: one in Pittsburgh, one in New Jersey and one in Maryland.
Haskins was only 24 years old at the time of his death.
