The Washington Commanders weren’t supposed to have trouble with the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17, but the Falcons definitely caused problems for the Commanders. Not only did they get out to an early lead, but the Commanders struggled to battle back. They eventually took the lead in the third quarter, but allowed the Falcons to tie the game back up and send it into overtime.
The Commanders managed to win the game in extra time, but it definitely wasn’t the win they thought they would get. The Falcons have been on a tear the last two weeks, replacing Kirk Cousins with rookie Michael Penix Jr., and they were making a solid push for the playoffs. Now, not only do the Falcons have to win their next game, but they need help from other teams, too.
