$85 million Super Bowl free agent Milton Williams will be eyeing a new contract as teams could offer him a high-end lucrative contract. According to a Bleacher Report, the Eagles are preparing to lose their next best defensive line other than Josh Sweat but Williams had a phenomenal outing in this past postseason which gave them a Super Bowl. Originally selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the former Louisiana Tech product came into the league helping the Eagles reach their first Super Bowl in years in 2022 but wasn’t much of a presence in that matchup. However, Williams had the start this season and was able to earn a ring where the defensive line was most responsible for why they stopped star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The defensive trenches were on him all night and Williams’ capabilities could draw a lot of interest this offseason. A talented defensive lineman on the interior like Williams could fit in any team that needs another big body. Williams is an X-factor who can get to the quarterback pretty quickly after putting up a career-high five sacks in the entire 2024 campaign. It’s not anywhere on the level of Sweat but given his age and experience, he has a bright future to become a physical disruptor in the trenches.
It’s not just size but the way he’s able to play anywhere on the line of scrimmage. These perks of his abilities could intrigue teams like the Commanders, Chargers and Panthers for a potential visit next free agency.

Increasing Commanders’ Chances
The Washington Commanders have done well for themselves finding a capable quarterback in Jayden Daniels to lead the offense. Without the most talented weapons, Terry McLaurin and tight end Zach Ertz are the main men who’ve been able to keep the offense together. However, a rumor is floating that the Commanders could be aggressive this upcoming offseason to find reliable defensive additions since this department was a sore spot for the majority of the 2024 campaign.
The Commanders need a reset since dealing with Chase Young and Montez Sweat at the trade deadline in 2023. However, the team found a way to improve its defense by adding Dorance Armstrong, Dante Fowler Jr. and Bobby Wagner to get the defense a fighting chance. Milton Williams could be a name to watch as there will be several possible candidates available. Jonathan Allen’s future looks bleak so it makes sense why the Commanders could have an interest in a defensive monster like Williams.
Other Suitors
Despite that, the Los Angeles Chargers will likely re-sign Poona Ford to a new contract while they find a replacement for Teair Tart. Two names in the outside edge rushers Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa will likely leave so they must do something to improve the defensive line. With that, Williams could fit in their scheme, especially with the mindset of what Harbaugh wants in winning ball games in the trenches.
However, the Carolina Panthers spend their entire time building an offense for quarterback Bryce Young last offseason. With Derrick Brown returning and Jadeveon Clowney hopefully to remain with the team, the Panthers need another capable body to make their lives easier. Perhaps, if these two men can open up the gaps, Williams could be an excellent addition to fill them.
