On day two of the 2022 NFL draft, the Washington Commanders had two picks — one each in the second and third rounds.
Entering the draft, Washington had plenty of holes to fill and only six picks to fill those holes. A trade with the New Orleans Saints netted the Commanders two additional selections.
On Thursday, Washington selected Penn State wide receiver Jahan Dotson No. 16 overall. Some criticized the pick, believing Dotson went too high. However, most still considered Dotson a late first-round pick and the run on wide receivers caused the Commanders to select him in the middle of the first round.
In Friday’s second and third rounds, Washington selected two Alabama alums — defensive tackle Phildarian Mathis and running back Brian Robinson Jr.
