Sam Cosmi and other players talk to the media after practice
The Washington Commanders finished their second day of training camp practices today, and a few players spoke to the media. Sam Cosmi is entering the final year of his rookie contract and said he has to prove himself every day. He wants to be one of the best, and believes he’s one of the best, guards in the league, and he won’t take shit from anybody while proving it. Cosmi is one of the best linemen on the team, and will be looking for a big payday soon.
Cosmi was vocal about last year’s offense, and wanted the team to run more. Eric Bieniemy’s offense was the most pass-happy in the league, and Cosmi wanted to see the running game used more. He wants to keep defenses true, and have a balanced offense that was severely lacking last season. He also said that rookie QB Jayden Daniels isn’t a “look at me” guy, and he’s earned the respect of the guys.

Running the ball more this year:
Commanders G Sam Cosmi was vocal last year about wanting the team to run the ball more. “I think we were last in the league in [rushing] attempts and first in passing. And you saw where that got us.”

Sam Cosmi on running more: “It keeps the defense true… I don’t know what the percentage was last year, I think we were last for [run] attempts and one of the highest in [pass] attempts. You saw what that got us.”

Looks like I’m not the only person impressed by Commanders rookie LB Jordan Magee – Frankie Luvu: “He’s picking it up real quick. He’s coming on a long way, real quick for a rookie taking everything as early as it is in camp.” pic.twitter.com/gEdrRYmrw4
