Logan Paulsen spent 10 seasons in the NFL as a tight end after going undrafted back in 2010. Paulsen spent his first six seasons with Washington.
Now, Paulsen is a respected analyst who focuses on the Commanders. Paulsen’s film breakdowns are must-watch, and he offers tremendous insight into multiple positions.
Recently, Paulsen and former Washington great Santana Moss broke down film of Washington’s running back trio of Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic and rookie Brian Robinson Jr.
Paulsen told Moss the position group he’s most excited about this offseason is the running back group and named Gibson, Moss and Robinson.
“Gibson’s upside is something that really gets me excited,” Paulsen said. He’s a big, strong, physical dude.”
“He’s a home-run hitter,” Moss said.
Paulsen breaks down a specific play from Gibson as to why he’s still scratching the surface of his potential.
“He is a great satellite space player,” Paulsen said of McKissic. “Not many running backs have that type of ability.”
Paulsen noted how the NFL is all about matchups, which makes McKissic an ideal player in the league. Paulsen focused on one play specifically where McKissic created multiple problems for the defense.
Next, the duo discusses Robinson, the rookie from Alabama. Paulsen said he is most excited about him.
“He’s a pure runner,” Moss said. “He’s one of those guys everything is natural. You look at him and say, ‘he’s a guy we haven’t had for so many years. We needed that guy that can run between the tackles when things get hard. We’ve been searching. I think we have one.”
Paulsen showed multiple Robinson runs from time in Alabama, displaying his patience, power and pad level. While Robinson is considered a power runner, Paulsen noted how he has the ability to make people miss.
“I get super fired up seeing all three of those guys in the backfield,” Paulsen said.
There are multiple reasons to be optimistic about the Commanders in 2022. The new backfield creates plenty of hope and should only help new quarterback Carson Wentz.
