Washington makes some moves
The Washington Commanders announced several roster moves before tomorrow’s home game against the Tennessee Titans. Emmanuel Forbes has been a healthy scratch multiple times this season, and now he’s finally being released by a coaching staff that didn’t have any use for him. He is the last of Ron Rivera’s former first round picks, and the purge is now complete. Washington traded for Marshon Lattimore at the trade deadline, and he finally started practicing with the team this week, but he’s doubtful for tomorrow’s game.
Washington also placed Austin Ekeler on injured reserve after he suffered his second concussion of the season last week. Chris Rodriguez Jr was re-signed after both Ekeler and Brian Robinson Jr(ankle) were injured last week. Robinson is playing tomorrow, along with Jeremy McNichols, and Rodriguez Jr. The Commanders now have two open spots on their roster following today’s moves.
Kicker Austin Seibert was placed on injured reserve this week with a groin injury. Washington didn’t sign Zane Gonzalez from the practice squad because they still had one elevation left. After the bye, the Commanders will either have to sign Gonzalez to the 53-man roster, or sign yet another kicker this season. Washington also elevated DT Carl Davis from the practice squad for more DL depth.
