Heading into Day 1 of the 2022 NFL Draft, there were so many rumors surrounding Deebo Samuel’s future with the San Francisco 49ers. Though multiple wide receivers were traded on Thursday night, Samuel remains in the Bay Area – for now.
The New York Jets made a trade offer for Samuel, but it didn’t meet the 49ers’ asking price.
According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, the Jets offered pick No. 10 and a fifth-rounder to the 49ers for Samuel and the No. 61 pick. That isn’t exactly the king’s ransom the 49ers were looking for.
Barrows added that the Detroit Lions also made a “light” offer for Samuel.
The Jets offer for Deebo Samuel was the No. 10 pick and a 5th-rounder in exchange for Samuel and the 49ers’ second-rounder, per @mattbarrows. 49ers clearly wanted more for Deebo.

Samuel may want out of San Francisco, but 49ers general manager John Lynch has made it known that he has no desire to trade his All-Pro wideout.
“I can’t ever imagine wanting to move on from Deebo,” Lynch said, via ESPN. “You put yourself through the exercises of, even though we don’t have a first-round pick, you have to be thorough in this process and prepare for everything. So, you go through it and do that. He’s just too good of a player … We’ve got nothing but love for him and nothing but appreciation for what he’s brought, but you just don’t let guys like that walk. So, I can’t envision a scenario where we would [trade him].”
This past season, Samuel had 1,770 scrimmage yards and 14 total touchdowns.
Perhaps the 49ers will find a way to mend their relationship with Samuel this offseason.
