Isaiah Thomas on playing through injury: “The thing that hurt the most was that nothing was explained to me. If you tell me, ‘This can possibly get worse, this is what you have,’ then it’s on me to make the choice. But it was none of that stated. I was just going in like, ‘Okay, I got a bone bruise, I can figure this out like I’ve done my whole life.’ They shot me up to go into the Wizards series, I got shot up three times, every round. The last one was right before Game 7 of the Wizards series. Then in Game 2 of the Cleveland series, I get hit by a screen, and it just shoots to the back of my hip, and I’m like, ‘What the [heck]?’”

Isaiah Thomas: “When I got traded to Cleveland, I was upset because at that point, I put my career on the line for something you could have just broken down to me and told me, ‘If you do play, or if we do this, it could possibly be what it happened to be.’ It took me three years to really get back to who I am and figure out what was going on. But it was a tough situation. It was a learning experience for myself. I got real love for Boston and everybody in that organization, but it was definitely the wrong way to go about things.” -via YouTube / August 27, 2024
Kevin Garnett: “Man, the levels in which you had to be not only strong enough but skilled enough to get by this [expletive] in front of you, you understand? They ain’t never seen a 6’7” Rodman guard you. Bro, I see you, and you know you in the scout report. We know you go left; we know you can finish right, but you go left to pull up. Bro, everybody knows. Watching the games back then—Isaiah Thomas and then the Dumars—Dumars shut Jordan down, bro. They were coming to the lane, bro. You might get your nose broke trying to dunk. You understand? Dwyane Wade broke Kobe’s nose in the All-Star game, man. Bro, it was just different. It was very different back then.” -via YouTube / August 26, 2024
